A Song from Another Land in Hong Kong International Photo Festival (HKIPF)

‘A Song from Another Land’, a film I co-directed and produced with Fatris MF as part of ‘The Banda Journal’ was screened in Photo Cinema program in Hong Kong International Photo Festival 2021. The special program is part of the main presentation ‘Jakarta International Photo Festival: Tracing Inherited History’.

In case you missed the opportunity to watch it on site (traveling during the pandemic is a pain in the a**), you can also watch the film below.

The Banda Journal Won the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation Photobook of the Year 2021

It’s so unexpected that The Banda Journal, the book from the project I produced collaboratively with the writer Fatris MF, and designed by Jordan Marzuki, won the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation Photobook of the Year Awards 2021. Earlier, we already so happy to know that we’re in the shortlist. But we never really thought that we would win. So it was a really nice surprise for the end of this turbulent year.

Bye Bye Plastic Bags in Credit Suisse Bulletin

Last year in September, Bulletin (a magazine by Credit Suisse) assigned me to travel to Bali in order to photograph the two sisters behind Bye Bye Plastic Bags: Melati Wijsen and Isabel Wijsen. The two sisters are known for their efforts to reduce plastic consumption in Bali. Here’s the opening spread from the feature as published in the January 2020 issue of the magazine.

Schneider Electric Commercial Shoot: Berto Coffee

Finally I’m able to share the result of a commercial project that I did August last year for Schneider Electric. The idea of the shoot was to highlight the story of how customer benefited from Schneider Electric’s sophisticated technology. In this case the customer was Berto Coffee Roaster, the Indonesian manufacturer of premium coffee roaster machines at affordable prices for domestic and international markets. The final layouts was displayed super big at the airport and at other public space.

Zong Qinghou's Portrait for Forbes Asia November 2019

I had the pleasure of making the portrait of Zong Qinghou, the Chairman and CEO of Wahaha, as part of Forbes Asia China's Richest 2019 coverage. A series of portraits were taken during Forbes Global CEO Conference in Singapore last October. So happy that one of the image made it way into the cover.

Zong, who was China’s richest man in 2010, 2012 and 2013, saw Wahaha’s sales slide from 78 billion yuan ($11 billion) in 2013 to 46 billion yuan in 2017 before rebounding slightly to 47 billion yuan last year. His ownership of the company still gives him a fortune of $8.2 billion, but he is no longer No. 1, ranking instead as China’s 31st richest person. He currently aims to revitalize Wahaha.
